Prof. Stavros S. Karayanni main focus topics are culture, gender and sexuality in the Middle East but belly dance has been his artistic passion and the main focus of his intellectual interest and research.
He is the author of Dancing Fear and Desire: Race, Sexuality and Imperial Politics in Middle Eastern Dance (Wilfrid Laurier UP 2004) and, since 2007, the Managing Editor of Cadences: A Journal of Literature and the Arts in Cyprus.
Furthermore, he is the Associate Professor of English Literature and Cultural Theory at the Department of Humanities, European University Cyprus.
It is our honor to have him as one of our instructors during this year's festival!
